A Pie? or a Cake?

Raspberry 'Pie' Cake

Today, we had our "Old Fashioned Day" at church. It is a special day of services with dressing up, potluck, games, etc. One of the special events is a pie competition that I am in charge of organizing. And it is also the reason I don't usually make a pie.

A few years ago, Joy made some cupcakes that looked like pies.  So, I decided this year. to make a cake that looked like a pie (for those that would rather have cake and not a pie.)

This is a white vanilla cake with layers of raspberry filling.  The top also has raspberry filling.  The lattice work and fluted edges are fondant and 'painted' with food coloring and flavoring.  I would have to say it was a lot easier than I thought it would be!
